I am Djèly Moussa Keita, a stranger.

I am a descendant of Mandinka slaves and come from a family of griots. One day, I found photographic archives of my great-grandfather, shackled, thin, his gaze lost. My great-grandfather was a singer; he entertained the village so that people could forget hunger. He was executed by the army in 1923.

Djèli M. Keita died in a tragic accident last year. Les Ménines has taken up the editing gesture he began. We are continuing it …
